Happy Leap Day!
Yep, an extra day. Which is kind of weird, and honestly always throws me off a little bit. It’s just…an odd concept.
Speaking of odd concepts…depending on when you’re reading this, I may or may not have been on the radio by now, and you may or may not have therefore heard me on the radio this morning.
See? Sometimes I actually try to be smart and write these things ahead of time to make my life easier. But that makes things like “tense” tricky as a result.
So, if it’s before 11am…and Ice Storm 2012 hasn’t frozen my in my house like Superman’s Fortress of Solitude…tune in and check it out.
Also depending on when you’re reading this, I may or may not still have a free ticket or two for tomorrow night’s event still available.
Wow. This is hard. This must be what it feels like to be a time traveler…

Assuming the FCC doesn’t catch wind of it ahead of time, I’ll allegedly be on the radio around 11am tomorrow (Wednesday…so maybe “today” by the time you read this) morning.
So, tune in to WDET 101.9FM (http://www.wdet.org/) around about 11:00am to check things out, and perhaps get a glimpse of how Thursday night will shape up.
Tasers are illegal in the state of Michigan, right?
Just checking. No reason.

Okay, so now that I’ve had a couple cups of coffee and my head’s not quite as fuzzy as it was earlier this morning…I wanted to recap a few conversations that were had last night.
As I mentioned earlier on, the group dynamic is shifting yet again…which is great. Sure, there are still job seekers. Sure, there are still recruiters. But more and more we’re getting back to the foundation of what Detroitnet.org always was – networking. So to have folks from companies showing up last night just looking to make business contacts, as well as more people just looking to do the same and expand their network in the industry a bit…awesome.

One of these days, we really are going to have to get better about remembering to take pictures at our events.
Big shout out and “thank you” to Rochester Mills Brewing Company for hosting last night’s event. We couldn’t possibly be any happier with the space, the service, the environment, or any other factor, really.
And, of course, a thank you to everyone that made it to the event last night. Lots of new faces, and we’re starting to see more and more businesses looking to branch out and make contacts in the industry…always a positive.
I would definitely plan on us having more events there in the future…that’s a no-brainer.
In other news, Denise Ilitch Designs is doing something very cool to help Michigan Military Brides, and we’re naturally all about helping get the word out.

Last call folks.
We’ve got our event tonight at Rochester Mills in Rochester Hills. Look forward to seeing everyone there. And the rumor mill has it that there might be a few folks who were happily working away at Compuware until just recently that might have suddenly found themselves in the market looking for a new job.
Well…not that you need one for our events, but the invitation’s extended. There will be plenty of recruiters looking to hire people at our event tonight, so don’t be shy. I know it’s rough, and I know it sucks the life out of you when you get caught short like that…but, seriously, we’ve all been there. Don’t sweat it. C’mon out and let one of us buy you a beer and get your ass back to work as soon as is humanly possible.
